Accessibility Statement for The Lodge of Four Seasons
We firmly believe that the internet should be available and accessible to anyone, and we are committed to providing a website that is accessible to the broadest possible audience, regardless of ability. This accessibility statement outlines our commitment to digital accessibility and our ongoing efforts to improve the user experience for everyone.
To fulfill this commitment, we aim to adhere to the World Wide Web Consortium’s (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 (WCAG 2.1) at the AA level. These guidelines explain how to make web content accessible to people with a wide array of disabilities. Following these guidelines helps us work toward making our website accessible to blind people, people with motor impairments, visual impairments, cognitive disabilities, and others.
This website utilizes various technologies intended to make it as accessible as possible at all times. We provide an accessibility interface that allows individuals with specific disabilities to adjust the website’s user interface (UI) and design according to their personal needs. Additionally, the website utilizes an AI-based application that runs in the background and continually works to optimize its accessibility. This application remediates the website’s HTML and adapts its functionality and behavior for screen readers used by blind users and keyboard navigation used by individuals with motor impairments.

Screen Reader and Keyboard Navigation Accessibility Statement
Our website implements Accessible Rich Internet Applications (ARIA) attributes, alongside various behavioral changes, to help blind users visiting with screen readers read, understand, and use the website’s functions. When a user with a screen reader enters the site, they receive a prompt to activate the Screen Reader Profile so they can browse and operate the website more effectively.
Here’s how our website addresses some of the most important screen reader requirements:
Screen reader optimization: We run a process that learns the website’s components from top to bottom to support ongoing accessibility as the website is updated. In this process, we provide screen readers with meaningful information using ARIA attributes. For example, we provide accurate form labels, descriptions for actionable icons (such as social media, search, and cart icons), validation guidance for form inputs, and element roles for buttons, menus, modal dialogues, and other interactive elements.
Additionally, the background process scans website images and provides image-recognition-based descriptions as alternative text (ALT text) for images that lack descriptions. It can also extract text embedded within images using optical character recognition (OCR) technology. To activate screen reader adjustments, users can press the Alt+1 keyboard combination. Screen reader users may also receive an announcement prompting them to activate screen reader mode. These adjustments are designed to work with popular screen readers such as JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, and TalkBack.
Keyboard navigation optimization: The background process also adjusts the website’s HTML and adds behaviors using JavaScript to improve keyboard accessibility. This includes navigating the website using the Tab and Shift+Tab keys, operating dropdown menus with the arrow keys, closing them with Esc, activating buttons and links using Enter, navigating between radio buttons and checkboxes with the arrow keys, and selecting options using Spacebar or Enter.
Keyboard users can access content-skip menus by pressing Alt+2 or by navigating to the first element of the site using the keyboard. The background process also manages popups by moving keyboard focus toward them when they appear and helping prevent focus from drifting outside. Users can also use shortcuts such as “M” (menus), “H” (headings), “F” (forms), “B” (buttons), and “G” (graphics) to jump to specific elements.
Disability Profiles Supported by Our Accessibility Statement
Our accessibility interface offers several profiles designed to help users customize their browsing experience according to their individual needs.
-
- Epilepsy Safe Profile: This profile is designed to help people with epilepsy use the website by reducing flashing or blinking animations and potentially risky color combinations.
-
- Vision Impaired Profile: This profile adjusts the website to accommodate various visual impairments, including degraded eyesight, tunnel vision, cataracts, and glaucoma.
-
- Cognitive Disability Profile: This profile provides assistive features to help people with cognitive disabilities, including autism, dyslexia, and cognitive difficulties following a stroke, focus on essential elements more easily.
-
- ADHD Friendly Profile: This profile reduces distractions and visual noise to help people with ADHD and other neurodevelopmental conditions browse, read, and focus on essential elements.
-
- Blind Users Profile (Screen Readers): This profile adjusts the website for compatibility with screen readers such as JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, and TalkBack. Screen reader software is typically installed on the user’s device, and this site is designed to work with these tools.
-
- Keyboard Navigation Profile (Motor Impairments): This profile helps people with motor impairments operate the website using the Tab, Shift+Tab, and Enter keys. Users can also use shortcuts such as “M” (menus), “H” (headings), “F” (forms), “B” (buttons), and “G” (graphics) to jump to specific elements.
Additional UI, Design, and Readability Adjustments
The accessibility interface offers additional customization options to support different browsing preferences and accessibility needs.
-
- Font adjustments: Users can increase or decrease font size, change the font family, adjust spacing and alignment, modify line height, and make other text-related changes.
-
- Color adjustments: Users can select different color contrast profiles, including light, dark, inverted, and monochrome. They can also change the colors of titles, text, and backgrounds using a range of color options.
-
- Animation controls: Users can stop animations through the interface. Supported animations may include videos, GIFs, and CSS flashing transitions.
-
- Content highlighting: Users can emphasize important elements such as links and titles, as well as highlight elements when they are focused or hovered over.
-
- Audio muting: Users who experience discomfort or other issues due to automatically playing audio can mute the website.
-
- Cognitive support tools: We provide a search tool linked to Wikipedia and Wiktionary to help users understand unfamiliar phrases, initials, slang, and other terms.
-
- Additional functions: Users can change cursor color and size, use a printing mode, enable a virtual keyboard, and access other available features.
Assistive Technology and Browser Compatibility
As explained in this accessibility statement, we aim to support as many browsers and assistive technologies as possible so users can choose the tools that work best for them with as few limitations as possible.
We have worked to support major systems and technologies, including Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari, Opera, and Microsoft Edge, as well as JAWS and NVDA screen readers for Windows and Mac users. Our goal is to provide a consistent and accessible browsing experience across commonly used platforms and assistive technologies.
Notes, Comments, and Accessibility Feedback
Despite our best efforts to allow everyone to adjust the website to their needs, some pages or sections may not yet be fully accessible, may be undergoing accessibility improvements, or may lack an adequate technological solution. We recognize that accessibility is an ongoing process and remain committed to continually improving the website.
We regularly work to enhance accessibility options and features, update existing functionality, and adopt new technologies as they become available. These efforts are intended to improve usability and move toward a more inclusive online experience as technology advances.
If you have questions, comments, or suggestions regarding this accessibility statement or encounter an accessibility barrier while using our website, we welcome your feedback. Please contact the website’s owner at rrydeen@4seasonsresort.com.
